No doubt both are integral part of the staffing industry and a pure staffing firm could never ignore either of the two. However the dilemma lies in the initial days for a firm. Where should my focus be? Should I put my best strength in client acquisition or service delivery? Without clients I wouldn't be generating my billing and same is the case if I have multiple clients and not able to deliver on their needs.
I know smart professionals would balance both of the responsibilities evenly and would ensure both the activities go hand in hand with each other. However what do you do in a situation where your operations are being funded by an external person who doesn't completely understand the finite elements of this business and is only eyeing for your successes in terms of revenue. Would this put you under pressure to make categorical mistakes? Would this make you deviate from the long term plan and give in to situations that warrant effective organization building?
I guess I'll have to wait and see. For now, let me put my best foot forward and concentrate on building the organization.
